The French National Cancer Institute (INCa) and the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) have signed a major scientific partnership to promote world-class research on cancer.
The partnership, which is part of the global Cancer Grand Challenges initiative, will see the INCa invest €10 million to fund teams working on cancer research. Twelve teams are currently competing for up to £20 million (€23 million) in funding for their global research projects. The winners will be announced in March 2024.
The partnership will strengthen the international reach of Cancer Grand Challenges, which was launched in 2020 by CRUK and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the United States. The initiative aims to bring together a multidisciplinary community of researchers to address the biggest challenges in cancer research.
INCa is the first French funding agency to commit to supporting multiple teams in a single edition of Cancer Grand Challenges. The investment will help to support the initiative's mission of accelerating progress in cancer research.
